Garage fire left Sample Street temporarily closed Wednesday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department reports crews responded to a detached garage fire at 1711 W Sample St. around 1:06 a.m. on Wednesday.

Heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the roof.

Sample Street was closed for a short time due to hose laying in the road during fire extinguishment.

Fire officials say the flames were quickly brought under control.

There's been no reported injuries.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
